ISLAMABAD: Negotiations between Pakistan and Afghanistan will take place today (Friday) in Qatar’s capital, Doha, Afghan Taliban stated on their social media account; however, Pakistan has so far not shared detailed information regarding these negotiations, BBC Urdu reported on Thursday.
Details indicate that the delegation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, led by Defence Minister Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, and several Pakistani security and intelligence officials will participate in the talks, the report stated.
Earlier in the day, however, while addressing the federal cabinet, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif noted that friendly countries, particularly Qatar, were making efforts to mediate.
“I also met the Emir of Qatar in Egypt, and he also regretted the Afghan attack on Pakistan, saying it should not have happened,” he shared. He added the Qatari Emir expressed his country’s desire to play a mediating role.
