$10.1bn loans signed in previous fiscal, Senate told

ISLAMABAD: The Senate was informed that the total commitment from the new foreign loans signed in previous fiscal year amounts to $10,100.85 million ($10.1 billion) out of which $6,682.04 million was disbursed during the previous fiscal year.

Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema said this in a written reply to a question by Senator Zeeshan Khanzada, who had asked whether it is fact that international loans were taken during the previous fiscal year, if so, project wise details of their utilisation in each project should be shared.

The minister explained the government of Pakistan has acquired a total of 29 international loans (from multilateral and bilateral development partners and commercial banks) during the previous fiscal year i-e July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025.
