ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday adjourned for today (Friday) the hearing in the case filed against the enforcement of Section 4B of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001 related to the imposition of Super Tax.
A five-member constitutional bench, headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan and comprising Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan, heard the case.
During the hearing, Farogh Naseem, counsel for taxpayer company, argued that parliament must comply with the Supreme Court’s directions.
Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail remarked that the court could consult parliament, saying, maybe they can give us a good suggestion. “What is sufficient or insufficient -- that’s for parliament to decide.” The court adjourned the hearing until today. Farogh Naseem will continue his arguments.
