CHARSADDA: A woman and her two kids died after drinking poisonous water in Anbar Sar area in the limits of Mandani Police Station on Saturday.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tangi Circle, Abdur Rashid said that the mother and her two children, aged 4 and 5 years, were taking their meal when the mother drew water from the household hand pump and gave it to her children and drank it herself.
Soon after drinking the water, all the three fell critically ill. Both the children died within a short time, while the mother died later in the hospital.
Police collected samples of the food and water and sent them to a laboratory for testing. A postmortem examination was conducted, and doctors also took stomach samples from the deceased for further analysis. A local resident told reporters that the children’s condition deteriorated immediately after drinking the water during their meal. The mother managed to call her husband, but within an hour, all the three had expired.
Meanwhile, 14 passengers sustained injuries following a collision between a coach and a coaster near Muftiabad on Takhtbhai Road.
The injured included men, women and children, who were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Charsadda.
