ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), in partnership with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), recently concluded a two-day Consultation Workshop on Awareness Raising in Islamabad. The event was held under the umbrella of the "Preventing Fraudulent Job Advertisements and Cyber Activity as a Facilitator of Irregular Migration and Trafficking in Human Beings (FJA-PAK)" Project.
The FJA-PAK Project, financed by the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration, is a critical initiative designed to foster safer and better-informed migration routes for Pakistanis looking to work abroad. Its core mission is to mitigate the dangers linked to fraudulent overseas job offers and the associated cyber threats.
The project plans to achieve this through three primary strategies: including Targeted capacity building, Awareness-raising initiatives and Developing efficient information sharing and referral mechanisms.
The workshop served as a crucial platform for gathering stakeholder feedback on current efforts to combat fake job advertisements. Through practical sessions and knowledge-sharing, participants worked to identify gaps in the design and execution of existing awareness activities.
A key objective was to solicit inputs for the creation of a comprehensive national awareness-raising campaign. Furthermore, the consultation facilitated an agreement on the implementation roadmap for this campaign and led to the finalization of essential elements for shaping a national plan of action on awareness raising.
