Ex-PTI MNA Latif Chitrali surrenders in May 9 case

ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Abdul Latif Chitrali MNA, who was convicted in the May 9 case, appeared before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) No 2 in the federal capital on Friday and surrendered as per the instructions of the Peshawar High Court (PHC).

In the application, ex-MNA Chitrali stated that the PHC had directed him to surrender before the relevant court, adding he did not want to defy the high court’s order. During the hearing, ATC judge Tahir Abbas Supra remarked: “Latif Sahib, you delayed much, but it is also good that you have now appeared”. Later, the court ordered that Chitrali be shifted to jail to serve the sentence. It may be recalled that Chitrali was sentenced to a total of 10 years in prison under various sections in the May 9 incidents.
