QUETTA: A Levies Force official was martyred and two bandits injured during an operation against outlaws in Bolan’s Khatin (Baghi) area on Thursday, while the Balochistan government vowed to continue its crackdown on criminal groups across the province.

According to Deputy Commissioner Jumma Dad Mandokhail, the operation was launched under his supervision against the notorious Shafu gang. The outlaws opened fire, critically injuring Levies official Muhammad Mohsin, who later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Levies retaliated, injuring two bandits, while the exchange of fire was still going on at the time of reporting. Several hideouts of the gang were also set ablaze during the operation.

Meanwhile, the Balochistan government paid glowing tribute to the martyred official, Mohsin Ali Awan. In a statement, the provincial Home Department said Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti had directed indiscriminate action against criminal groups throughout the province.

The government reiterated that the protection of people’s lives and property is its top priority and assured that the sacrifices of security personnel would not go in vain. The statement added that gangs involved in highway robberies would be eliminated, while Levies and other law enforcement agencies were conducting joint operations under a coordinated strategy.

“The crackdown on criminal elements will continue until its logical conclusion, and all resources will be utilised to restore peace in the province,” the department declared.
