ISLAMABAD: Tehreek Tahafuz Aiyeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai said Wednesday that it was now Pakistanis’ turn to send Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif government home peacefully, noting that Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and recently Nepal had “achieved what they wanted”.

Speaking at a hurriedly called news conference alongside other opposition leaders and Justice (retd) Shahid Jamil, who resigned last year, the veteran politician insisted that Nawaz Sharif had very sensibly begun the movement ‘give respect to vote’ but was forced to leave for London.

“It is unfortunate that Benazir Bhutto’s children are today part of this corrupt government. This is not at all acceptable to us. Now people will come out in lakhs with the demand of supremacy of the Constitution, rebuilding a democratic Pakistan, and no more cooperation with this ‘hybrid’ system,” he emphasized.

Addressing the premier, he said, “Shehbaz Bhai listen, you would be sent home with the power of masses, and that no one would be abused, no stick will be used, and no bullet fired.”

He maintained that protests will be held from Gilgit to Quetta and contended that they must protest together in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan, while Punjab is currently faced with floods.

Achakzai said: “If we move forward according to the Constitution, we will get out of the crisis and Pakistan will start running excellently.” However, he regretted that there is no merit in Pakistan, jobs are being sold, and “whoever sells jobs, sells faith, he gets promotion”.

Justice (retd) Shahid Jamil, who formally joined the opposition alliance, said he was happy to be part of a movement working for the supremacy of the Constitution. “The basic purpose of joining this movement is the supremacy of the Constitution,” he said.

Former Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser announced that a historic rally will be held in Peshawar on September 27 and invited the entire nation to attend the event on the call of the party founder, who is “fighting the war of the entire nation.”
