ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) in the Senate and Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Senator Irfan Siddiqui said on Friday that members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in parliament, along with certain judges in the judiciary, are planning to resign concurrently in a coordinated attempt to destabilise Pakistan.
He warned, however, that this scheme is bound to fail, bringing only disgrace to those involved.In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Senator Siddiqui said: “The current trajectory of events indicates that, driven by frustration and disappointment, PTI parliamentarians and select judges will soon resign simultaneously in pursuit of mutual interests.” He emphasised the critical role of standing committees, describing them as the “backbone of parliamentary functions,” and urged the PTI, as a participant in both the National Assembly and Senate, to actively engage in these committees and fulfil its democratic responsibilities.The senator asserted that the apparent objective behind such resignations is to trigger a major crisis in Pakistan. However, he cautioned that the plan would ultimately backfire, remarking: “This scheme will yield nothing but failure and ignominy for those orchestrating it.”
