President Zardari witnesses signing of 3 MoUs in Urumqi

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari witnessed the signing of three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between Pakistani and Chinese enterprises in Urumqi, China.

The first MoU was inked between Loyang Modern Biotechnologies and the Government of Sindh, represented by Sindh Provincial Minister Nasir Shah. It focuses on modernising Pakistan’s livestock sector.

The second MoU was signed between Beijing Asian Africa Longyue and ASM Services. It relates to promoting and establishing a modern textile industrial park in Pakistan.

The third MoU was concluded between Sichuan Chuanxiao Fire Trucks Manufacturing Company and ASM Services. It provides a framework for cooperation in supply, distribution, sales, and after-sale services of fire trucks and advanced emergency equipment for Pakistan. Speaking on the occasion, President Zardari said the MoUs would open new avenues of cooperation between Pakistan and

China in sectors directly supporting Pakistan’s economic growth and public welfare.

He noted that modernising livestock would enhance food security and rural employment, the textile park would spur industrial growth and exports, while collaboration on fire trucks and emergency equipment would strengthen Pakistan’s disaster response and community protection. Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Pakistan’s ambassador to China, and the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan were also present.

Meanwhile, President Zardari reached Kashgar from Urumqi on Thursday, where he was received at Kashgar International Airport by Nie Zhuang, Party Secretary of Kashgar, Communist Party of China.
