Senate panel warns of contempt

ISLAMABAD: The Sub-Committee of Senate Standing Committee on Communications categorically directed the implementation of its recommendations and warned of contempt of Parliament and breach of privileges in case of non-implementation. The Sub-Committee met on Monday with its convener Senator Kamil Ali Agha in the chair to thoroughly probe the irregularities in awarding Tranche-III, CAREC project.

The Sub-Committee echoed serious concerns over the continuous absence of Secretary Communications and NHA Chairman. Discussing the under discussion Project, NHA officials informed that the District Court Islamabad has issued stay order in favour of NHA halting the process of the project. After a detailed deliberation, the Sub-Committee gave another opportunity to NHA Chairman and Secretary Communications to address reservations in the upcoming meeting on September 22.
