ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has sought a brief summary of the relevant court rulings in a case related to Super Tax, and adjourned the hearing until today (Tuesday).
A five-member constitutional bench, headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan, heard the case on Monday. During the proceedings, Asma Hamid, counsel for the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), informed the court that no taxpayer has, so far, challenged the Lahore High Court s decision. She added that both sections of the case had already been decided by the Islamabad High Court. She further informed the bench that, in 2022, a total of 89 petitioners had approached the Islamabad High Court regarding the matter.
At this point, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar questioned whether there was consistency across all the judicial rulings. He instructed that a short summary of these decisions be submitted to the court. Following this, the hearing was adjourned until today (Tuesday).
