A 30-year-old man was shot dead during a robbery attempt in Gulistan-e-Jauhar’s Bhittaiabad area on Friday. According to police, the incident occurred outside house number B/72 in Street 30, near Monin Bakers. The victim, identified as Naeem, son of Nathial, was using his mobile phone outside his home when two armed men tried to snatch it. When he resisted, the suspects opened fire, killing him on the spot.
The police said the body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to the family. Officials added that the victim was unmarried and originally hailed from Khanewal.
The victim’s pregnant sister-in-law told the police that she witnessed the robbery and shouted for help, prompting the suspects to fire at her as well. “Luckily, the bullets missed me,” she stated.
Investigators collected bullet casings and other evidence from the crime scene, while CCTV footage from the area was being reviewed. The police confirmed that a case had been registered and efforts were underway to trace and arrest the culprits.
