ISLAMABAD: Judicial Magistrate Imran Amir Abbasi on Wednesday sent 14 PTI workers on judicial remand in a case related to an alleged conspiracy to hold a sit-in and organise a conference without permission on August 14.

The workers were presented in court after their two-day physical remand expired. Advocates Ansar Mahmood Kiani, Shamsha Kiani, and Murtaza Hussain Tori appeared on behalf of the accused.

The police sought an extension of the physical remand, with the investigating officer stating that certain items still needed to be recovered from the accused. However, the defence counsel argued that an FIR had also been registered against the workers on August 5 and sought their discharge from the case.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court rejected the police request for further remand and ordered all 14 accused to be sent to Adiala Jail on judicial remand. The case was registered at Shahzad Town Police Station.
