ISLAMAABAD: The Supreme Court adjourned for Wednesday (today) hearing into eight appeals of former prime minister and founder Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan in May 9 cases.
A three-member apex court bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi and comprising Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, heard appeals of the PTI founder against Lahore High Court judgment, dismissing his petition seeking post-arrest bail in May 9 cases.
Barrister Salman Safdar, counsel for Imran Khan, appeared before the court. CJP Yahya Afridi told him that he could not go through the additional documents filed by him, hence the case was being adjourned for Wednesday at 10:30am.
Barrister Salman submitted that the additional documents comprised court’s decision in the matter in hand. “Whatever it is, it is necessary to examine those documents,” Justice Afridi replied to the counsel.
Barrister Salman had filed some additional documents including the decisions given by the lower courts as well as the high court pertaining to the instant case through a civil miscellaneous application (CMA).
The court directed that other parties, if wanted to file any documents related to the case, should file on Tuesday. The court also directed the prosecution to also examine the additional documents, filed by the appellant.
