LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the launch of the province’s first comprehensive internship programme for 1,000 veterinary graduates and para-vets.
Maryamf said, “A substantial amount of Rs60 crore has been allocated for the veterinary internship programme. Under this initiative, veterinary graduates will receive a monthly stipend of Rs60,000, while para-vets and livestock assistants will be given Rs40,000 per month during the internship.”
She said that veterinary graduates with a DVM degree recognised by the Higher Education Commission are eligible to apply in their respective districts. “Young people who have completed a two-year LAD course can also apply for the internship programme,” she said.
Applications can be submitted online at www.jobs.punjab.gov.pk. She further highlighted that quotas for veterinary assistants, AI technicians and lab assistants have been fixed across all 36 districts of Punjab.
Maryam emphasised that livestock farmers will now receive animal treatment and consultation services at their doorsteps through the programme. “The aim of the Veterinary Internship Programme is to promote and develop the livestock sector in Punjab. It will not only provide practical experience to young professionals but also offer them financial support through a monthly stipend,” she said.
She stressed the government’s commitment to boosting the sector: “We want to fully harness the true potential of livestock in Punjab. Increased milk and meat production will also contribute to strengthening our foreign exchange reserves. Our vision is to make Punjab a hub for livestock and dairy development. We stand with our livestock farmers today and will continue to stand by them in the future.”
