The suspect also critically injured his three-month-old nephew. Police recovered a knife believed to be the murder weapon. The attacks reportedly began at Tramri Chowk in Islamabad, where Ali is accused of killing his 70-year-old father, Mahmood Hussain, and his 32-year-old sister, Shabnam Zara. The suspect then traveled to Irfanabad on Adiala Road in Rawalpindi, where he allegedly murdered his other sister, 35-year-old Anjum Zara, and slit the throat of her three-month-old son, Salar, who is currently in critical condition.

After the second crime, locals prevented Ali’s brother-in-law from entering the house until police arrived. Officers from the Saddar police division, including the SP and ASP, quickly responded and apprehended the suspect at the scene. CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani has taken notice of the incident and requested a report on the matter.

Police are investigating multiple potential motives for the brutal killings. According to a Rawalpindi police spokesperson, initial findings suggest the crime may have been a property dispute.

The suspect reportedly demanded that his father give him his sisters’ share of the property, but his father insisted on transferring the property to both daughters. Another possible motive is an ‘honour killing’. A source claimed the suspect was resentful that his sister, Anjum Zara, had married for love a year and a half ago. Both of these motives are being explored, and the full details are expected to emerge after a complete investigation.

Two separate murder cases have been registered to cover the crimes in Islamabad. The Shehzad Town Police Station in Islamabad will handle the case for the killings of Mahmood Hussain and Shabnam Zara. The Saddar Bairuni Police Station in Rawalpindi will file a case for the murder of Anjum Zara and the critical injury of her infant son. Police have collected evidence from the crime scenes and stated their intent to build a strong case against the suspect to ensure he receives appropriate punishment.
