Construction of Wagah Heritage Corridor in full swing: Maryam

LAHORE: As directed by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, construction of Lahore’s 1st tourism highway “Wagah Heritage Corridor” is in full swing.

Punjab CM noted, “Construction work on Lahore’s first tourism highway Wagah Heritage Corridor, running from Quaid-i-Azam Interchange to Wagah Border (Zero Line) was progressing rapidly.” She added, “Millions have been spent so far on this 13-kilometer-long project.” She highlighted, “To provide best travel facilities to lakhs of citizens, the road is being widened from both the sides.”

The chief minister said, “The two-way tourism highway is 68 feet wide, with 20 feet wide service roads being constructed on both sides. In addition to the construction of more than 22 kilometers long RCC drainage system, 10 kilometers of decorative wall, and modern solar streetlights are also being installed.” She underscored, “The project, which started in January, is rapidly moving towards completion.”

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, “Along with the smooth flow of traffic, completion of the project will also provide world-class travel facilities to domestic and foreign tourists coming to watch the parade at Wagah Border. Millions of people use Wagah Heritage Corridor daily.”

Maryam Nawaz said, “Sikh pilgrims from India will see the unique colors of Pakistani culture, tourism and beauty upon arrival. During the city journey, they will be able to see the roads decorated with portraits of heroes.”

She flagged, “Rs2,850 million has been spent on the highway so far. Construction of the highway and installation of a new sewage system will also solve the long-standing problem of the local people.”

Meanwhile, Punjab chief minister while paying tribute to security forces for killing 14 more terrorists of Fitna-ul-Khawarij in Zhob, Balochistan, said, “Pakistan’s soldiers have the ability to destroy enemy, whether it is in the corner of the earth or on the top of the mountain.”

She added, “Sacrifices and bravery of soldiers of Pakistan Army are real shield of the dear motherland. Entire nation is determined to eliminate every perpetrator of Fitna-ul-Khawarij.”

In her message for Punjab students on ‘X’, she said, “Portal of Honhar Scholarships has been reopened for Punjab students.” She added, “My dear students of Punjab, your dreams are heartbeat of province’s future. Alhamdulillah, 80,000 young minds have been given wings to flourish and fly through Honhar Scholarship Programme.”

The chief minister said, “50,000 students are already benefiting from their Honhar Scholarship, while another 30,000 Honhar Scholarships are being given, and the number will be further increased. Since last year, Honhar Scholarship Programme has been opening new doors for students in 67 future-proof disciplines.”

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, “Students in Punjab are being given skills and opportunities that they deserve. For the next phase of Honhar Scholarship, the portal has been opened again. Students should apply for meritorious scholarships with confidence and study with passion.”

The chief minister said, “Students should never stop believing in what they want to achieve.” She added, “Students’ success is always my greatest pride.”
