BANNU: One soldier embraced martyrdom and three others were injured when terrorists attacked a Frontier Constabulary (FC) checkpost in Takhtikhel area with a quadcopter, officials said on Friday.
According to police and security sources, the checkpost was attacked at night using a quadcopter, which was likely loaded with explosives.
Sepoy Meenakhyan embraced martyrdom in the incident. The injured personnel included Lance Naik Syedullah Jan, Noor Muhammad and Nooruddin.
The injured personnel were promptly shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, where they are currently under care.
The security forces cordoned off the area soon after the assault and launched a search operation.
Meanwhile, the security forces and Bannu police in a joint operation destroyed three hideouts of terrorists and arrested seven alleged facilitators of a banned outfit.
District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu, Saleem Abbas Kulachi said the joint search and targeted operation was conducted in Huweid and Wazirabad areas based on intelligence reports.
According to the DPO, a Zaranj vehicle and two motorcycles, which were being used in terrorist activities, were also seized during the operation.
The action was carried out on the directives of the DIG Bannu Region with support from intelligence agencies. It was aimed to restore peace and eliminate terrorist elements from the region.
The DPO added that joint patrols were going on in Huweid Bazaar and surrounding areas to maintain the security environment.
He reaffirmed that Bannu police and the Pakistan Army would continue operations in complete coordination until terrorism was eradicated.
The DPO appealed to the public to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or relevant security agency to help eliminate anti-peace elements.
He emphasized that the Bannu police were fully active at all levels to rid the region of terrorism, adding that public cooperation was key to the success of this mission.
