Rawalpindi: Pirwadhai Police have registered a new case of illegal weapons possession against Ismatullah Khan, the head of a local jirga (tribal council) previously arrested in connection with the honour killing of a newlywed woman, Sidra.
The new charges stem from a confession Ismatullah made during the investigation of Sidra's murder.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed under Section 13/2(b) of the Punjab Arms Ordinance 2015, Ismatullah confessed to using an unlicensed Kalashnikov assault rifle during the abduction of Sidra. He stated that on July 16, he, along with other co-accused, traveled in a vehicle to Muzaffarabad to retrieve Sidra, who had eloped with a man named Usman.
Ismatullah admitted to using the weapon to threaten Usman’s family at their home in Chehla Bandi, warning them he would shoot if they resisted.
After forcibly taking Sidra, they returned to Rawalpindi where, according to a jirga decision, she was murdered early on July 17. Her body was secretly buried in Chatthi Graveyard, and the Kalashnikov was hidden at his residence.
