World record: Spanish collector’s Dog figurine collection

Marià Gabarro, a Spanish collector from Terrassa near Barcelona, may not have liked real dogs, but he still created the world’s largest collection of dog figurines.

His 5,025 dog-themed items-including figurines, cuddly toys, and walking sticks with dog-head handles- earned him a Guinness World Record spot.

A record-breaking collection

Gabarro, a retired sales manager, discovered his passion for collecting dog figurines in his 60s. Despite not being a dog lover, he became captivated by miniature canine models. He spent years scouring markets, fairs, and antique shops across Spain to build his remarkable collection.

Family honors his memory

After Marià Gabarro's passing at 94, his family honored his legacy by applying for a Guinness World Record for his vast dog figurine collection.

His daughter, Teresa, shared that while her father didn’t like dogs, he loved figurines.

Ultimately, Gabarro’s unusual passion has now been immortalized in the Guinness World Record.
