Vegetables, fruits’ prices go up after rains disrupt supply chain

LAHORE: Ongoing monsoon rains have disrupted the supply of the perishable in the markets, resulting into the further increase in the rates of fruits and vegetables.

Further, unabated overcharging added to the people’s miseries while the administration remained busy in social media management of their performance.

The consumers are at the mercy of the sellers who openly overcharge across the provincial metropolis.

Similarly, the rates of the chicken meat also continued surging trend

while non-implementation of the issued rates caused the high prices of it as well.

This week, the rate of live chicken reached Rs384-398 per kg, while the seller charged Rs450-480 per kg for live chicken, chicken meat fixed at Rs577 per kilogram, while the sellers sold it at Rs600-670 per kg and chicken boneless at Rs1,100 per kg.

The price of potato soft skin A-grade increased by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs80-85 per kg, sold at Rs140-150 per kg, B-grade at Rs70-75 per kg and C-grade at Rs60-65 per kg, mixed sold at Rs120-130 per kg.

The price of potato sugar-free A-grade fixed at Rs60-65, B-grade 50-55 and C-grade at Rs35-40 per kg, mixed sold at Rs100-120 per kg.

The price of onion A-grade gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs45-50 per kg, sold at Rs80-100 per kg, B-grade at Rs35-40 per kg, and C-grade at Rs26-30 per kg, mixed sold at Rs60-70 per kg.

The price of tomato A-grade was increased by 20 per kg, fixed at Rs70-75 per kg, sold at Rs140-150 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs55-60 per kg, and C-grade at Rs45-50 per kg, mixed sold at Rs100-120 per kg.

The price of garlic local new reduced by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs190-200 per kg, sold at Rs280-300 per kg, Garlic Harani gained by Rs10

per kg, fixed at Rs240-250 per kg, sold at Rs400 per kg.

The price of Ginger Thai was reduced by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs455-475 per kg, Ginger China by Rs40 per kg, fixed 400-420 per kg, both sold at Rs600-700 per kg.

Cucumber Farm was fixed at Rs42-45 per kg, farm sold at Rs60-80 per kg, cucumber local was sold at Rs120 per kg.

Brinjal price increased by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs124-130 per kg, sold at Rs150-180 per kg. Bitter gourd price increased by Rs60 per kg, fixed at Rs142-150 per kg, sold at Rs180-200 per kg.

The price of Spinach increased by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs47-50 at Rs100-120 per kg. Zucchini local was reduced by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs181-190 per kg, sold at Rs240-260 per kg.

The lemon local declined by Rs25 per kg, fixed at Rs272-285 per kg, sold at Rs300-350 per kg, lemon seedless fixed at Rs190-200 per kg, sold at Rs300 per kg.

Lady finger price increased by Rs80 per kg, fixed at Rs162-170 per kg, sold at Rs200-240 per kg. Green chili price increased by Rs5 per kg, kg, fixed at Rs124-130 per kg, sold at Rs180-200 per kg. Capsicum price increased by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs105-110 per kg, sold at Rs150-180 per kg.

Price of cauliflower further gained by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs142-150 per kg, sold at Rs200-220 per kg, and cabbage by Rs30 per kg, fixed at 95-100 per kg, sold at Rs150-180 per kg.

Carrot Chinese price further gained by Rs10

per kg, fixed at Rs85-90 per kg, sold at Rs200-250 per kg.

Pea price increased by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs220-230 per kg, sold at Rs400-500 per kg. Beetroot was sold at Rs400 per kg. Coriander was sold at Rs80 per bundle.

The price of different variety of apples went up by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs240-450 per kg, sold at Rs350-800 per kg.

The price of Banana A-category fixed at Rs200-210 per dozen, sold at Rs250-350 per dozen, and B-category fixed at Rs134-150 dozen, sold at Rs200-230 per dozen.

C-grade was fixed at Rs90-100 per dozen, sold at Rs150-180 per dozen.

Peach was gained by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs180-310 per kg, sold at Rs250-400 per kg.

Phalsa was unchanged at Rs262-275 per kg, not sold. Apricot white

price increased by Rs60 per kg, fixed at Rs300-310 per kg, sold at Rs350-450 per kg.

Price of mangoes of the different varieties gained by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs140-280 per kg, sold at Rs200-350 per kg.

Chery box gained by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs335-350, sold at Rs400-450 per box.

Plump was gained by Rs40 per kg, fixed at Rs185-320 per kg, sold at Rs250-400 per kg.
