Women’s responsibilities increases during Ramazan

Islamabad: The responsibilities of women increases manifold during Ramazan, as they have to get up midnight to prepare ‘sehri’ besides making elaborate arrangements for ‘iftari’ followed by dinner.

“I have to get up early at night to prepare ‘sehri’ for the adults and have to get up early morning to prepare breakfast for the children. One hardly gets enough time to rest at night and day is spent in routine household chores, Shaista Maroof, a housewife told this agency.

Another housewife, Jameela Rehman, said discharging enhanced responsibilities while fasting is a difficult task but Allah has bestowed them such energy to meet such schedule with ease.

When asked if she had any help in daily household chores, she nodding positively said help for cleaning and washing is routine issue.

Suraiya Begum, pointed out that children were at home due to summer vacation and their presence at home for whole day was itself an herculean task in addition to preparing breakfast in the morning and lunch in the afternoon.

Moreover, she said those who observe fast they need their individual dishes for ‘iftari’ putting additional burden on woman of the house and household expenditures.

A mother Farzana Ahmed, said in Ramazan her priority is to give healthy and balance diet to my children and family in Ramzan she spends more time in kitchen children always demand different food than elders i.e. less spicy, fried and yummy.

A housewife Sana Imran said women love to be appreciated by their respective husbands and family members. Showing appreciation is very important for the one who work whole day. Sometimes women’s work never gets recognitions.
