KOAHT: The police and armed lashkar of local people reclaimed control of a government primary school and a local religious seminary in a three-day operation against militants in the mountainous region of Koh-e-Maidan between Kohat and Karak districts

Kohat Regional Police Officer (RPO) Abbas Majeed told reporters that under the leadership of District Police Officer Karak, Shehbaz Elahi, the police conducted a successful operation in the difficult terrain of Koh-e-Maidan.

The operation, he said, was carried out jointly by the police and a local armed lashkar that successfully expelled militants from the area.

The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had turned Koh-e-Maidan into their base camp, from where they carried out operations in Kohat, Karak, Lakki Marwat, and Makarwal.

After three days of continuous operation, the area was declared clear. Following the successful mission, the police and local residents celebrated the occasion by performing traditional dances.

It may be mentioned here that the Regional Police Officer (RPO) visited Orakzai district after the recent acts of terrorism and inspected the police check posts there.

During the visit, he met with local elders and paid tribute to the brave police personnel.

The regional police officer assessed the overall security situation in the aftermath of recent militant attacks.

He inspected the police check-posts that had come under attack in recent days and met with the officials deployed there.
