£190m reference: IHC to hear pleas against PTI founder, Bushra Bibi’s sentences today

Hearing on June 5 was adjourned without proceeding on the request of NAB

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear the petitions of PTI Patron-in-Chief and Bushra Bibi for suspension of sentences in the 190 million pound reference on Wednesday.

The Registrar’s Office has issued a cause list in this regard. A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif will conduct the hearing.

On the request of NAB, the court had given time till today to appoint a special public prosecutor.

The hearing on June 5 was adjourned without proceeding on the request of NAB. In the hearing on May 15, a notice was issued to NAB to submit a reply.

PTI Patron-in-Chief and Bushra Bibi have requested to suspend the sentence and be released on bail. On January 17, the accountability court had sentenced PTI founder and Bushra Bibi. PTI Patron-in-Chief was sentenced to 14 years and Bushra Bibi to 7 years.
