The Sussexes are huge believers in hand-me-downs, as was apparent in Meghan Markle’s birthday tribute for her and Prince Harry’s daughter, Princess Lilibet.
Hidden in Meghan’s throwback snap, posted to Instagram on June 4th, was a royal keepsake once used to introduce Prince Archie to the world.
People magazine was the first to report that one of the images showed baby Lili wrapped in the same $312 G.H. Hurt & Son merino wool blanket Archie wore in his 2019 debut at Windsor Castle.
The sweet black-and-white snap features Meghan cradling a sleeping Lili on her chest, swaddled in the ivory shawl, with a striped cap keeping her warm.
The photo opened a heartfelt birthday post that read, “Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! Four years ago today she came into our lives – and each day is brighter and better because of it.”
The luxury knitwear brand, which has been supplying royal baby blankets since 1948, was also part of Archie’s big moment at Windsor Castle two days after his birth. At the time, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex opted out of the traditional hospital step debut, choosing instead a more private introduction at St. George’s Hall.
