LAHORE:The Secretary Emergency Services Department (ESD) Punjab Dr Rizwan Naseer reviewed the emergency operational performance of all districts of Punjab for the month of May 2025.
The Secretary ESD said that Emergency Services Department rescued 211,354 victims while responding to 210,360 emergencies across Punjab in May 2025. He expressed serious concern over 39,978 road traffic crashes, 4,131 fire emergencies and 140 drowning emergencies during the May 2025.
He was presiding over the monthly operational performance review meeting on Monday, which was attended by the Heads of the Wings of Emergency Services Department, Provincial Monitoring Officer while Divisional Emergency Officers and District Emergency Officers attended via video link. All DEOs shared their operational performance of their respective districts while discussing major emergencies, challenges, case studies, lessons learned and initiatives of their districts. Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) responded 210,360 emergencies during last month which includes 140,645 medical emergencies, 39,978 road traffic crashes, 5,526 falls/ slip, 4,746 crime incidents, 4,131 fire incidents, 4,003 delivery cases, 2,389 Occupational Injuries, 1,336 Animal Rescue, 1,038 electric shock, 331 burn cases, 140 drowning incidents, 96 structural collapses and 6,001 miscellaneous operations in Punjab. The data further revealed that 436 people died in 39,978 road accidents in Punjab during the last month. Out of these traffic crashes, the majority of traffic accidents 7,384 occurred in Lahore in which 38 people died. Similarly, 2,671 road accidents in Faisalabad, 2,527 road accidents in Multan, 2,139 in Gujranwala, 1,491 in Sheikhupura and 1,290 in Bahawalpur while the remaining 22,466 road traffic crashes took place in other districts of Punjab. Similarly, the majority of fire incidents took place in major districts i.e., 602 incidents in Lahore, 300 in Faisalabad, 206 in Gujranwala, 187 in Sialkot, 184 in Sheikhupura and 174 in Rawalpindi.
Weekly General Parade held
On the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, weekly General Parade was held across the province, including Lahore. According to details, senior police officers inspected the parade while the contingents presented salute. Personnel from Police Lines, Dolphin Force, Anti-Riot Force, Traffic Police, Mujahid Squad, SPU, Ladies Police, OCU, Investigation Wing, and officers and personnel from police station Operation Wings participated in the General Parade. Senior officers also inspected the turnout of the participating officers and personnel. The smartly turned-out contingents participating in the General Parade performed a march-past, and female personnel also took part in the parade.
Punjab Police Spokesperson said that General Parades are being held regularly every Monday across the province. District officers also inspected armours, Motor Transport Wing, miscellaneous stores, uniform depots, and other departments. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the purpose of the General Parade is to keep the personnel alert and to maintain discipline, unity, and a spirit of brotherhood among them.
