In a significant development, the prime suspect in the murder case of a young food delivery rider has surrendered to police.
The victim, Haris, was shot in Hussainabad two days ago. According to police, the suspect, Dilawar, was directly responsible for the gunshot that fatally wounded the victim. Investigations revealed that the weapon used in the incident was unlicensed.
Police stated that four of Dilawar's friends were previously arrested in connection with the case. These individuals initially misled the authorities by falsely claiming that the incident occurred during a robbery attempt.
In a video statement recorded after his surrender, Dilawar admitted his role in the shooting. “Haris was my childhood friend,” he said emotionally. “He used to visit my cattle pen regularly.”
Dilawar claimed that the shooting was accidental. “I didn’t know the pistol was loaded. I had no idea it would go off,” he said, adding that he personally took Haris to the hospital and even registered the case under his own name.
The case remains under investigation as police continue to gather evidence and verify the claims made by the suspect during interrogation. According to media reports, Haris had come to Hussainabad to deliver food when Dilawar, acting like a street thug, used his weapon to intimidate him. He forced Haris to do physical punishments at gunpoint. When Haris tried to de-escalate the situation and apologised, Dilawar opened fire.
