Meghan Markle was reportedly blocked from joining a high-stakes royal meeting because palace aides feared she was "smarter" than Prince Harry.

According to Channel 5’s new documentary Megxit: Inside the Sandringham Summit, the Duchess of Sussex was not allowed to attend the now-infamous royal crisis talks that shaped the couple’s departure from royal life.

Held in early 2020 at Queen Elizabeth’s Sandringham estate, the meeting — dubbed the "Sandringham Summit" — was called to hammer out the terms of Harry and Meghan’s royal exit.

Senior royals including Charles, Prince William, and the Queen’s private secretary were present. Meghan, however, had returned to Canada to be with baby Archie and had hoped to join the discussion remotely. That request was denied.

But journalist Emily Andrews made a bombshell claim in the documentary: “They all knew that Meghan was probably smarter, brighter, had a more linear view of where she and Harry were going... They probably thought they would get a better outcome with just Harry.”

Meghan herself addressed the exclusion in the couple’s 2022 Netflix docuseries, saying, “Imagine a conversation… about the future of your life… and you… aren’t invited to have a seat at the table.”

Even some royal insiders now say she had a point. “I sort of agree with her,” said expert Charlotte Griffiths. Jack Royston added, “I have a lot of sympathy for Meghan… having no voice in the room.”

Still, others, like Richard Kay, argued security and confidentiality were key concerns.

He explained that the senior royals "would have no way of knowing who else would have been in the room with Meghan... making notes."
