QUETTA: The funeral of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Hidayatullah Buledi, who was martyred in a terrorist attack in Surab, was held with full state honours in his native town of Bhag in kachi district on Saturday.

His body was flown in by helicopter, and as the casket arrived, a wave of grief swept over the town, with mourners in tears and sorrow hanging heavy in the air.

A large number of people from all walks of life gathered to pay their final respects. The funeral prayer was attended by Additional Chief Secretary for Home Zahid Saleem, Commissioner Naseerabad Division Moeen ur Rehman Khan, Commissioner Kalat Division Shahzeb Kakar, Deputy Commissioner Kachhi Jehanzeb Baloch, Deputy Commissioner Surab Habib Nasir, senior officers of the divisional and district administration, Frontier Corps officials, tribal elders, political figures, and local citizens.

After the funeral prayer, a smartly turned-out contingent of Levies and police presented a salute to the fallen officer. His coffin, draped in the national flag, was laid to rest with honour. The martyrdom of ADC Hidayatullah has plunged the region into mourning, with political and social circles offering prayers for his elevated rank in the hereafter and patience for his grieving family.

Meanwhile, senior PPP leader and former Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri strongly condemned the attack. In a statement, Zehri said, Those who storm homes in the presence of women and children and commit such brutal acts have no right to call themselves Baloch. He described the assassination as a cowardly and shameful act, stating that action against the anti-peace elements behind the Surab attack is now inevitable.

Zehri emphasized that the terrorists targeting innocent civilians do not deserve any leniency. This attack was not just an act of terror, but a vile attempt to plunge Balochistan s peaceful future into darkness, he said. He further criticized the attackers, claiming they were serving foreign interests while falsely claiming to represent Baloch identity. Zehri extended his condolences to the bereaved family and called on the government and security forces to take immediate and decisive action against those responsible.
