Husband, wife among three killed in road accidents

A husband and wife were among three individuals who lost their lives in two separate road accidents across the city on Thursday.

A traffic collision occurred near Siemens Chowrangi in SITE Area, claiming the lives of a couple riding a motorcycle. Police and rescuers rushed to the scene and transported the victims to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The woman died on the spot, while the man was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

According to the police, the accident occurred when a speeding coaster collided with the couple’s motorcycle. The victims were identified as 55-year-old Jameel and 50-year-old Nighat, residents of Sector 11.5, Orangi Town. In response, the police arrested the coaster driver, Ansar, and seized both the coaster and the motorcycle for further investigation.

In a separate incident near Shirin Jinnah Colony in the Clifton area, a motorcyclist was killed after being struck by an oil tanker. The collision was so violent that the man was decapitated on impact. The victim, later identified as 42-year-old Munir Ahmed, an online rider from the same area, died instantly at the scene. His body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for formalities. The tanker driver fled the scene immediately after the incident. However, the police seized the tanker and launched an investigation into the crash.
