Police officer gunned down in Pishin: Two suspects arrested

Unidentified assailants opened fire on Sub-Inspector Zainuddin Tareen, killing him on spot before fleeing scene

QUETTA: A police sub-inspector was gunned down near Killi Malizai in Pishin district of Balochistan on Tuesday.

According to the Levies Force, unidentified assailants opened fire on Sub-Inspector Zainuddin Tareen, killing him on the spot before fleeing the scene. The Levies responded swiftly and arrested two suspected terrorists from Killi Nali, who are allegedly linked to the attack. The suspects have been moved to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

Deputy Commissioner Pishin, Zahid Khan Kakar, praised the Levies for their prompt action. He said the force pursued the suspects immediately upon receiving information and apprehended them after an exchange of fire, during which both were injured.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of Sub-Inspector Tareen. Paying tribute to the slain officer, he described him as a brave son of soil who sacrificed his life in the line of duty. He prayed for the elevation of the martyr’s rank in the afterlife and extended condolences to the bereaved family.

The chief minister lauded the Levies Force for the successful operation and termed the arrests a significant step towards maintaining peace in the province. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to making Balochistan inhospitable for elements threatening peace and vowed to bring such perpetrators to justice.

Government spokesperson Shahid Rind also condemned the targeted killing and said an investigation is underway.

He assured the martyr’s family of the government’s full support during this difficult time, emphasizing that they would not be left alone.
