ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will take up the plea against the election of PTI leader Omar Ayub Khan as MNA from NA-18, Haripur in the general elections, on May 8 for further hearing. A full bench of the ECP, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, will hear the petition, filed by PML-N’s Babar Nawaz against Omar Ayub, who is now Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly. The Islamabad High Court has dismissed the stay order for Ayub, upon which the hearing of the petition has been fixed, whereas the electoral body has sought documents from the respondent. It has been learnt that the district returning officer of Haripur Hazara has accepted Babar Nawaz’s position and sent the report to the ECP.
