MINGORA: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Malakand Division Sher Akbar Khan on Sunday visited the Matiltan Hydropower Project and reviewed the security arrangements.
During the visit, the RPO thoroughly inspected the residential areas of local and foreign personnel working at the site, as well as the project’s perimeter walls, barbed wire fencing, CCTV cameras, and other security measures.
He met with security personnel stationed at the project site, inspected weapons and ammunition, and issued special instructions to ensure the use of bulletproof helmets and vests for their protection.
Later, RPO Sher Akbar also visited the under-construction police station in Kalam, where he examined the progress and quality of the construction work.
Meanwhile, the Matta police have arrested a gang of inter-provincial pickpocketing and recovered cash and vehicles.
The Matta Police Station had received reports regarding the presence of an inter-provincial pickpocketing gang operating within its jurisdiction.
Acting on these reports, the police launched an investigation and apprehended members of the group involved in theft incidents.
The arrested accused were identified as Jumma Gul, a resident of Mardan district, Ehtram Ali alias Jehangir of Shewa in Swabi, Ahmad Zaib alias Ulfat, of Rawalpindi, Naimatullah of Abbottabad, Jehanzeb and Usman of Dera Ismail Khan, Sajid alias Dildar ofLower Dir, Rehan, Falak Naz and Arshad of Swabi.
The police have also recovered Rs0.2 million cash and a car from the accused.
A case has been registered against the accused at Matta Police Station before sending them to judicial lockup.
