LAKKI MARWAT: The police thwarted the terrorists’ bid to attack a police post in Shah Toora area and killed two of them during an exchange of fire, police officials said on Saturday.
An official said that after receiving credible information about the presence of terrorists in Darga forest, the policemen reached there and besieged them.
He said that a fierce gunfight took place in the forest leading to the killing of two terrorists. Police officials said that they had seized arms and ammunition from the venue and shifted the bodies to a local hospital.
Separately, police have repulsed a terrorist attack on a police post in the Gandi area.
A police official said that an intense exchange of fire occurred when terrorists launched the midnight attack on the post with light and heavy weapons.
“Though the attack was repulsed, a local resident who had come out of his house to assist police lost his life while a policeman and a watchman were also injured,” he maintained.
He said that the building of the police post was partially damaged in the attack.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed has praised the bravery of the Lakki Marwat police and said that the morale of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police is high against terrorism.
