HYDERABAD: A man died and nine others were injured due to heavy wind and rain in Hyderabad city on Saturday.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has stated that after a continuous rise in temperatures over the past two weeks, several districts of Sindh are likely to experience rainstorms over the next few days.

On Saturday evening, light to heavy rain fell in various areas of Hyderabad city and its surroundings along with strong winds.

The rain brought a drop in temperature, but disrupted the routine life.

As a result of strong winds, the wall of a house near Fatah Chowk collapsed, severely injuring a person named Kaleem. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, in the Preetabad area, the roof of a house near the Government College University collapsed, injuring seven people.

According to the Civil Hospital administration, a total of nine injured people were brought in from Preetabad, seven of whom had been hurt due to the roof collapse, while the other two were injured due to falling solar panels.

The injured persons included four women, three children and two men.

Furthermore, the electricity supply in Hyderabad was also severely affected due to strong winds and dust storm.

A spokesperson for the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) stated that power supply was disrupted from 140 of the city's 148 feeders, after which restoration work was promptly initiated.

He said that in many parts of Hyderabad, electricity wires broke after trees fell on them.

The fallen power lines also caused a fire in bushes present in empty plots in Khursheed Town. The fire intensified rapidly.

With residential areas and a Hesco grid station nearby, the fire caused panic in the area, but it was brought under control by three fire brigade vehicles.

According to Rescue 1122, an old tree fell onto 11,000-volt power lines in the Hyderabad Cantonment area, and another tree fell on Thandi Sarak blocking one side of the road for traffic.
