23,903 new driving licenses issued

Rawalpindi: The City Traffic Police Rawalpindi is continuing its efforts to make the city as safest for commuters and pedestrians.

The City Traffic Police issued 23903 fresh diving licenses to citizens and while 123067 other citizens were provided information about licensing during the month of April, Chief Traffic Office, Beenish Fatema said.

The education wing of traffic police through lectures and other methods created awareness about traffic rules among over 5000 persons in different schools, colleges, universities, bus stands and other public places.

The traffic police also continued punitive actions and issued 20718 challans to bikers for not wearing helmet while 2955 underage drives were also challaned.

The City Traffic Police Rawalpindi also issued challan 10810 challans for careless driving while 5829 vehicles were found creating hurdles in smooth flow of traffic.

As many as 19246 drivers without driving licenses were also challaned, 3199 were challaned while driving non registered vehicles, 887 drivers were nabbed for violation of one way rule, 967 challaned for breaking traffic signals and 638 drivers were fined for wrong parking.

Spokesman of City Traffic Police Rawalpindi said that 271 FIRs were also registered on violation of traffic laws.
