Mob sets water tanker ablaze after pedestrian hit in North Nazimabad

A mob torched a water tanker near Five Star Chowrangi in North Nazimabad on Thursday after the vehicle allegedly hit a pedestrian.

According to police, the tanker was coming from the Paposh Nagar when it struck a man named Imran near Chandni Chowk, causing him minor injuries. Enraged residents began chasing the vehicle. As the driver approached Five Star Chowrangi, within the jurisdiction of the Sharae Noor Jahan Police Station, he reportedly panicked, accelerated, and lost control. The vehicle veered off the road, crashed into a footpath, and overturned.

In reaction to the accident, angry locals set the overturned tanker on fire. The driver and his assistant managed to flee the scene. Video footage circulating on social media showed one individual being assaulted while attempting to escape the area. The police soon arrived at the scene, collected evidence, and launched an investigation. The driver, identified as Irfan, sustained minor injuries.
