Rawalpindi:To facilitate the public and cricket fans during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from April 11 to April 19, 2025, the City Traffic Police Rawalpindi has issued a comprehensive and well-coordinated traffic plan.
According to the official statement, more than 365 officers and personnel will be deployed to manage traffic during the event. These include one Senior Traffic Officer, eight DSPs/Circle Incharges, 50 Inspectors/Sector Incharges, and 308 Traffic Wardens and Assistants.
Following the directives of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi, Ms. Benish Fatima, special arrangements have been made to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow on alternative routes during match days and the movement of teams. To support this effort, five designated parking areas have been established, and a shuttle service—provided by the district administration—will operate between these parking sites and the stadium.
In addition to on-ground arrangements, awareness banners will be displayed on key highways to guide commuters about alternative routes and parking. Real-time traffic updates and diversion alerts will be shared regularly via the official social media handles ctprwp and local FM radio stations.
During the arrival and departure of cricket teams, Murree Road will be completely closed from Faizabad to the Double Road Turn. To manage this closure, traffic coming from Islamabad will be diverted to the Expressway via Faizabad. Meanwhile, vehicles traveling from Rawalpindi to Islamabad can use alternative entry points, including Chandni Chowk, Rehman Abad, and 6th Road via Saidpur Road. Additionally, traffic originating from Ghausia Chowk will be redirected toward Farooq Azam Road and Kurri Road.
Stadium Road will be closed in both directions from 9th Avenue Chowk to the Double Road Turn during match hours. To accommodate this, vehicles traveling from Islamabad via 9th Avenue can access Rawalpindi through the Expressway and IJP Road, using routes such as Pandora Chungi, Katarian, Carriage Factory, Pirwadhai Morr. For those heading from Rawalpindi to Islamabad via Double Road and 9th Avenue, Murree Road through Faizabad will remain accessible as an alternative route. Speaking on the occasion, CTO Benish Fatima emphasized the importance of citizen cooperation:
"While the traffic police and security agencies are fully prepared, the real success of the plan depends on the cooperation of the public. Our goal is not only the smooth flow of traffic but also ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone attending the matches," she said. She further reiterated the City Traffic Police’s commitment to serving citizens and urged the public to stay informed and follow diversion plans through official communication channels.
