LAHORE: An European Civil Aviation team has arrived in Pakistan for the first time, following directives from the European Union.
This milestone visit was made possible through the special efforts of Director General Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Nadir Shafi Dar. The two-member team, comprising Rustem Kabanbayev and Miguel Martin Lopez, arrived in Islamabad on Monday. The delegation would provide specialised training and certification to civil aviation security regulators at Islamabad International Airport.
According to a CAA spokesperson, the training will focus on implementing European-standard aviation security procedures, particularly in Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) and Explosive Detection Dogs (EDD). The initiative is aimed at enhancing Pakistan’s compliance with international aviation safety standards and strengthening the capacity of its regulatory personnel.
