Sindh Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon was promoted to Grade 22 and the rank-pinning ceremony was held at the Chief Minister House on Monday.

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah congratulated provincial police chief Memon on his promotion to Grade 22. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Law Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, Home Secretary Iqbal Memon, Principal Secretary Agha Wasif, Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho, and others attended the ceremony.

CM Shah presented rank badges to IGP Memon and said his promotion to Grade 22 was the result of hard work and dedication. “This promotion is not only an honour but also a sign of increased accountability in you [Memon]. Ghulam Nabi Memon is a soft-spoken officer and I object that the police officer should be a little strict,” the chief minister said, addressing the IGP in a lighter vein.

Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon and Law Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar also appreciated the services of IGP Memon in various positions. Ghulam Nabi Memon became ASP in 1991 and was promoted to SP in 1993. Later, he was promoted to the rank of SSP in 2000. Memon served as ASP and SSP in Sindh and Punjab and was later promoted to the position of DIG in 2009. He served as DIG CM House, IB and Pakistani Embassy in the UK and other key positions. Moreover, he was promoted as Additional IG in 2019 and as IGP Sindh from 2024.
