PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday termed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent diatribe about economic revival as “ignorant and a bundle of lies.”
PTI’s Sheikh Waqas Akram described Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s three-year tenure as one of the darkest periods in the country’s history.
Sheikh Waqas criticised the ruling government for subjecting the people to severe poverty, inflation, unemployment and for devastating the national economy. He claimed that the narrative of “saving the economy from bankruptcy,” touted by the government, was decisively rejected by the people on February 8, 2024.
Sheikh Waqas accused the federal government of undermining the constitution, law, and democracy in order to protect its illegal hold on power. He stated that under this “illegitimate government,” the media had been shackled and silenced, further accusing the 26th Constitutional Amendment of rendering the judiciary blind, deaf, mute, and incapacitated.
The PTI spokesperson expressed grave concerns about the state of democracy and governance, stating that the country had been left in a state of turmoil by the current administration.
