PESHAWAR: A religious scholar was wounded in an apparent targeted attack in Sheikhan, Badaber town, on Wednesday.
Maulana Noorul Hadi, a prayer leader and member of a political group, was wounded when armed men opened fire on him after he came out of the mosque in the Sheikhan village in Badaber. He was shifted to a hospital.
Police said the incident was being investigated and the area was being searched for the attackers.
Meanwhile, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Humayun Khan denied any attack on his residence.
There were rumours on social media that armed men opened fire at the residence of the special assistant to the chief minister for Prisons and the guards returned the fire.
The special assistant said some tourists fired aerial shots near his residence last night but there was no attack on his house.
