A notorious criminal, Asif, was awarded 33-year imprisonment by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) for possession of illegal arms, explosives and engaging in police encounter.
Asif was apprehended in the jurisdiction of Darkhshan police station on August 2, 2013, after a police encounter. The police had recovered illegal arms and explosive materials from his possession and registered a case for attempted murder.
Political activist punished
An ATC also convicted a political worker, Aqeel, for being in possession of explosives and awarded him 14-year imprisonment. Aqeel was arrested by Zaman Town police station in 2014. The court also imposed a fine of Rs50,000 on Aqeel and said in case the convict failed to pay, he would face additional imprisonment of one year.
