Custom officials arrested in bribery case at Faisalabad Airport

Individuals include Hassan Jalil, Talha Mumtaz, Noman Elahi, and Muhammad Haseeb

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Faisalabad has arrested three Custom officials and an accomplice for allegedly extorting bribes from a passenger at Faisalabad International Airport.

According to an FIA spokesperson, the case (FIR No. 102/2025) was registered following a complaint from Mahwish Abbas, a resident of Jhang Sadar. The complainant alleged that upon arrival at Faisalabad Airport on February 1, 2024 and was harassed by Custom officials and forced to pay Rs400,000 in bribes for carrying two iPhone 15 devices.

The arrested individuals include Hassan Jalil (Inspector Custom), Talha Mumtaz (Inspector Custom), Noman Elahi (Sepoy Custom), and Muhammad Haseeb (accomplice).

The case has been filed under Section 161 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA).

Further investigations are underway and FIA has urged the public to report any similar incidents of corruption or misconduct.
