Islamabad: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal on Tuesday declared the National Hepatitis C Elimination Programme as a flagship project in the health sector.
Addressing an event in Islamabad to mark the successful completion of National Hepatitis-C Elimination Programme's pilot project in Gilgit-Baltistan, the minister expressed confidence that the disease will be eliminated before the current government's term ends. He also said that raising awareness among the public was a key component of the initiative.
"I hope that this project, with the cooperation of all stakeholders, will emerge as a successful model," he said. On the occasion, Minister for National Health Services Mustafa Kamal vowed to meet the Prime Minister's expectations in addressing the health related issues.
