Rangers, CTD arrest ‘BLF terrorist’ in joint raid

The paramilitary Sindh Rangers along with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Saturday arrested a terrorist of the banned Baluch Liberation Front (BLF) involved in terrorism activities.

Officials said personnel of the Rangers and CTD police, in a joint operation based on intelligence information, arrested the most wanted accused, Abdul Rehman alias Abdullah alias Charlie, in the Mauripur area of Karachi. They have also seized weapons and ammunition from his possession.

The suspect is a resident of 500 Quarters, Mauripur. He joined the banned organisation in 2022.

During the initial interrogation, he revealed that on the instructions of Juma Khan Baloch, an operative of a banned organisation, he along with his associates Abdullah, Muzaffar, Ausaf and Sami Baloch shot and killed a citizen, Aftab Ahmed, on June 24, 2023, in Gulshan Benazir 500 Quarters, Mauripur, an FIR of which was registered at the Moachko police station.

He further admitted that on the instructions of Juma Khan Baloch and Ali Hassan alias Raju, he had been collecting data about law enforcement agencies and providing their information to Juma Khan and accused Ali Hassan. He said he had been helping his associates by posing as an operative of law enforcement agencies.

The suspect also admitted to facilitating activities of banned organisations. He was handed over to the police for further legal action.

Officials said they were questioning the terrorist about various matters, a recent terror attack on the Preedy police station in which terrorists lobbed a grenade inside, leaving two policemen injured and a Crime Scene Unit vehicle damaged.
