IMCG holds English drama competition

Islamabad:IMCG (PG), F-7/2 organised an Inter-Collegiate English Drama Competition here on Thursday. The chief guest for the occasion was Shabnam Riaz, an award winning newscaster, poet, and artist. It was a vibrant program where the budding artisans performed on the short stories from the Victorian Era. The esteemed judges for the competition were Dr. Rashida Imran Rabia Malik and Mah Rukh Nishat.

The students presented beautiful performances on some of the famous short stories of the Victorian masters. The performance on Oscar Wilde’s ‘The Happy Prince’ by IMCG (PG), F-7/2 deeply resonated with the audience. The students also entertained the spectators with poems, songs, excerpt readings, and videos about the era of Queen Victoria while waiting for the enactments to commence.

In her address, the chief guest, Shabnam Riaz greatly appreciated the efforts of the students and the organisers of the event. She emphasised upon the fact that we should overcome our fears and believe in ourselves wholeheartedly. It is our being that is precious and not our possessions. Therefore, we must invest in ourselves.

The Principal of the College, Prof. Dr. Fauzia Tanveer Sheikh applauded the endeavours of the young artists and their mentors. She especially thanks the council in charge of Irum and President Huda Khalid, who worked hard for the success of this intercollegiate event with their teams.

According to the judges, the first position was bagged by IMCG postgraduate, F-7/2, while as hosts, the college conceded in favour of IMCG, Humak. The second position was awarded to IMCG, F-7/4, Margalla, and the third position goes to IMCG, F-6/2 .The consolation prize was won by the students of IMCG, G-10/4
