Silver jubilee to be marked tomorrow

Islamabad: The Silver Jubilee celebrations of Dr Akhtar Hameed Khan Memorial Trust (AHKMT), a pioneering initiative in sustainable waste management and environmental conservation and launch of the annual report of the integrated Resource Recovery Centres (IRRCs) will take place at Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST), H-8 Islamabad, tomorrow (Friday), says a press release.

The event will bring together key stakeholders, policymakers, environmental experts, and development practitioners to discuss the challenges and opportunities in addressing climate change through innovative waste management solutions such as IRRCs.

The event’s chief guest, Dr. Syeda Shahida Rahmani, MNA/Secretary Women Parliamentary Caucus, will highlight the role of legislation and policy making in tackling environmental issues and promoting sustainable development. The guests of honor include Shoaib Sultan, Chairman NRSP Islamabad, Arif Hasan, Board Member AHKMT, Fayaz Baqir, Chairman AHKMT, Jawad Ali Khan from UN-HABITAT, Dr. Vaqar Ahmed from Oxfam, Shakil M Khan, Commissioner for Afghan Refugees, Farzana Altaf, Director General Pak-EPA Islamabad, Asif Khan, CEO Bhutto Foundation, Dr. Ayesha Khan, CEO Akhtar Hameed Khan Foundation, and Dr. Akhtar Nawaz Chaudhry from the Institute of Soil and Environmental Sciences, Arid Agricultural University Rawalpindi.
