SUKKUR: The Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) staged a sit-in at Sindh-Balochistan border on Sunday against the proposed construction of six new canals on the River Indus.
As per reports, JSQM activists, led by its Chairman Sanan Khan Qureshi, took out a rally and later staged a sit-in at Dera moor on Sindh-Balochistan border against the six-canal project.
Addressing the sit-in participants, JSQM Chairman Sanan Khan Qureshi, Nayab Sarkash and other leaders said the Sindh’s government and elected representatives had failed to safeguard the province’s interests prompting people to take to the streets to get their rights on their own.
Leaders of various nationalist parties and political and social organisations also participated in the sit-in, demanding from the government to immediately withdraw the decision to construct six new canals on River Indus.
